🌱 Woman Kills Boyfriend On Alexis Rd. + West Toledo Power Outage

Happy Friday, Toledo! Here are the most important things going on in town today.

Here are the top stories today in Toledo:

  1. Nichole Kazan, 44, was arrested for the stabbing death of her boyfriend Jeffery Barker, 44, in the 1900 block of West Alexis Road in North Toledo on Wednesday. Kazan was booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center and scheduled for arraignment in the Toledo Municipal Court Thursday. (WNWO NBC 24)
  2. Tyrefa Hill, 27, was charged with the April 25, 2022 murder of Derrick Kimble, 27, by a Lucas County Grand Jury on Wednesday. Hill is also charged with firearm specifications after Kimble was found shot outside his home in the 400 block of Havre near Walbridge Ave.(WTVG)
  3. Toledo Police had help from the community after a Ring security doorbell identified Jadiah Carter, 22, as the murderer of 7-month-old Desire Hughes. TPD Chief George Kral said investigators went door to door in the Hillcrest neighborhood which led to Carter's arrest. (WTOL)
  4. The old Neville Funeral Home on Dorr Street near Reynolds will be the subject of a public hearing on whether Unison Behavioral Health may get a special zoning permit to turn it into a mental health facility. Several concerned neighbors held a meeting at Reynolds Corners Library expressing apprehension at the plan. (WTVG)
  5. Several West Toledo residents were without power after a car crashed into two poles on Secor Road near Laskey around 2 AM Thursday. Toledo Edison immediately arrived on scene to repair the lines. (WTOL)
