Happy Saturday, people of Toledo! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in town today.

First, today's weather: Partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 90 Low: 72.


Here are the top stories in Toledo today:

  1. A man was shot several times and is on life support after he broke into an occupied home in the 200 block of Knower Street in South Toledo. Once inside, a female occupant fired several rounds into the man, who was then found in the front lawn by paramedics and taken to the hospital. (WTOL)
  2. A day before school was set to begin, Maumee Schools Superintendent Todd Cramer issued a statement requiring all students and staff to wear face coverings. Masks were already required for school transportation and no date was given for when the policy would be revisited. (13abc Action News)
  3. Local brewery HEAVY Beer, which started in the basement of Toledo Spirits, is opening the city's largest rooftop bar at a formerly vacant building at 13th and Adams Street. The project is to be completed in two years and coincides with HEAVY'S venture to open a location with Oak Openings Metropark. (WTOL)
  4. The City of Toledo is challenging the results of last year's Census data, which shows a 5% drop in population. Toledo Director of Communications Ignazio Messina said reporting accurate numbers is essential as it affects federal funding. (13abc Action News)
  5. COVID-19 booster shots are now available in Lucas County for those with special conditions like weakened immune systems. Health officials anticipate boosters will be available for all adults by late September. (WNWO NBC 24)
