Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:
- Lee Moore, 27, has been indicted on vehicular homicide and failure to comply charges for a crash into a duplex that killed his passenger in October. Moore was fleeing Toledo Police before crashing in the 1600 block of Nebraska Ave. near Brown Ave. (WTOL)
- Multiple families are displaced after a fire at the Broad Oak apartment complex in Wood County Thursday morning. Eight units were damaged but no injuries were reported and residents were able to find refuge in Otsego High School. (WNWO)
- A 6-year-old, Derek Wozniak, remains hospitalized for severe burns he received in an East Toledo house fire in July. Derek was life-flighted to Ann Arbor and a GoFundMe page was set up for his medical treatment. (WTOL)
- Joshua Whitaker of Erie, Michigan was indicted on aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, and vehicular assault charges by a Lucas County Grand Jury Thursday. Whitaker killed William Gergich Jr., 31, of Holland in a crash on Alexis Road and W. Rowland in May. (WTVG)
- Morenci man John Skelton has been denied parole for charges related to his three missing children. Skelton has been incarcerated since 2011 after his children Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner were last seen in 2010 before they were expected to be returned to their mother. (WTVG)

From my notebook:
- With school starting soon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to heed the rules of the road when it comes to school buses. Since 2017, there have been 6,200 crashes involving school buses in Ohio. (WTOL)
- The Toledo Hemp Center LLC is hosting its annual Community Cookout for kids at Miracle Mile Shopping Plaza on Jackman August 7 from noon - 5 p.m. The event raises awareness that one in five Lucas County children go hungry everyday. (WTVG)
- A group of local veterans from the Browning Masonic Community in Waterville had the chance to fly in a vintage biplane from Wood County Airport in Bowling Green. Among those celebrated were Gar Suitor of the Air Force and Nick Stroh of the Navy. (WTVG)
- Perrysburg Schools are facing a shortage of substitute school bus drivers. The shortage has affected routes and wait times and applications can be filled out online. (WNWO)
