Here are the top five stories in Toledo today:

  1. Toledo Police have issued warrants for a group of people suspected of breaking into Gesu Catholic School on Parkside Blvd. around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Surveillance footage shared with police showed several youth break into the school where they damaged property and smoked marijuana in a classroom. (WTVG)
  2. Toledo man Verlando Woods, 30, has been found guilty of murder for a crime that occurred at the Georgetown Apartments in 2019. Woods shot three people, killing Alexander Padilla, 25, at the apartments on Middlesex near Central Avenue. (WTVG)
  3. The University of Toledo's Ryan White Program is hosting free HIV testing at Georgjz419 in Downtown Toledo on Friday. Testing will be completed by finger prick with results taking only 20 minutes. (WTOL)
  4. Toledo Police are investigating after Kenneth Jones, 21, was robbed of $500 at the bus stop on North Byrne Road in West Toledo on Tuesday. Jones reportedly knew two of the three suspects, who fled in a silver Ford Explorer with no license plate. (WTOL)
  5. Dr. Bruce Barnett of the ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital is encouraging Toledo families to get their children vaccinated against COVID. Dr. Barnett stated over 3,000 babies have died from COVID and Dr. R.W. Mills from Nationwide Children's Hospital Toledo says the vaccine is safe for children. (WNWO NBC 24)

  • The Toledo Federation of Teachers and MetroParks Toledo are teaming up to give away 40,000 books on Saturday, June 25 at the Glass City Enrichment Center at 815 Front Street next to the Glass City Metropark. (WTOL)
