• Program helps kids in ag Events (farmanddairy.com) — Tuscarawas County teens can join a free, year-long agriculture career program run by Ohio State University Extension, starting with a session Oct. 14 at Mutti's Dairy Farm in Stone Creek. Youth ages 13–19 will explore everything from conservation and technology to livestock and leadership, while building portfolios that can support OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seals and Ohio Honors Diplomas.
• Zemis, Watson outline priorities in Tuscarawas County commissioner race (yourohionews.com) — Tuscarawas County voters will choose between incumbent Commissioner Kristin Zemis and challenger Kent Watson, who offer contrasting priorities on land-use planning and affordability. Zemis emphasizes comprehensive planning and continued grant funding, while Watson focuses on lowering county spending and easing residents' cost-of-living pressures. Both candidates live locally, in New Philadelphia and Dover, respectively.
• More Than $6 Million In ARC Grants Awarded To Support Appalachian Ohio Projects (yourradioplace.com) — Tuscarawas County's Access Tusc is receiving $2 million in federal Appalachian Regional Commission funding to launch its three-year REACH — The Aging Workforce project. The initiative will train community health workers around aging and chronic disease, support local health businesses and nonprofits with new technology, and is expected to create 22 jobs while serving hundreds of residents across multiple communities.
