Akron Man Charged with Abducting Ex-Girlfriend at Twinsburg Pizza Shop

Twinsburg police arrested an Akron man after officers responded to a distress call June 14 from Romeo's Pizza on Ravenna Road.
Matthew Spradlin, 22, of Akron, was charged with felony abduction, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor theft.
A female employee told police Spradlin, her ex-boyfriend, showed up that night at the pizza place and the two began to argue. She told officers that he forced her into the store office and took her cellphone away from her.

She called the store manager and told him that she was scared and needed help, and the manager called police. When he realized they were on the way, Spradlin took off. He later called the woman at the store while police were there. He told the officers he would meet them at the police station to tell his side of the story.
While meeting with police, Spradlin told them he showed up because it was the only way he could talk to her. He denied taking her cellphone, which he later gave to police. He denied going into the office at first, then admitted he pulled her into the office by her shorts.

Spradlin was arrested and held without bond at the Twinsburg Police Department.
