Why Go: This annual AA-rated horse show and competition brings together horses and riders working in harmony for the public's view. An elite attended event with various categories of daily competitions, it also includes shopping, food options and family activities.
Pricing: General admission, $5 adult on Friday and Saturday, $3 for children and seniors, but children are free on Saturday. $10 adult on Sunday, $5 children and seniors. Additional seating options and packages available, see event website for more details.

4. The 10-10 New Plays Festival
Where/When: River Street Playhouse, 56 River Street, Chagrin Falls.

Why Go: The Chagrin Valley Little Theatre presents 10 new 10-minute plays in this festival that began in 2009. Directed by Yvonne E. Pilarczyk and Sue Beattie. The theatre group has been in existence since 1930. Catch some quick plays and still have time to visit the surrounding scenic town with waterfalls.

Why Go: See some of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters in bronze form. This national traveling exhibition includes familiar names like The Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, Horton and The Grinch. The curator for the exhibit is Bill Dreyer.

6. Northwind Trio
Where/When: The Music Shed at Hines Hill, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, 1403 West Hines Hills Rd., Peninsula.

Why Go: Hear beautiful chamber music in the rustic and relaxed atmosphere of your local, national park. This concert is part of the Summer Series 2011 of Music by Nature, presented by the Conservancy For Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Talented professional musicians use a combination of flute, English horn and acoustic guitar to perform works by Bach, Tedesco, Grangani and more. You're encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic basket. Grounds open at 5 p.m.
