COLUMBUS — Gov. John Kasich got his way Monday and will expand Ohio’s Medicaid program under theAffordable Care Act, more commonly known as “Obamacare.”
It wasn’t easy.

Kasich was pushing for the expansion, but the Legislature wasn’t having it.
After the General Assembly removed his plan from the biennial budget, Kasich decided to bypass the lawmakers by taking the matter directly to the Controlling Board, a seven-member body that usually handles limited, day-to-day adjustments in the state budget.

It looks like his plan worked. The board voted, 5-2, to expand the eligibility parameters of the program.
