The Blotter: Man Pokes Stick at Cars; Dumpster Diving

Man said he was swinging at cars so they wouldn't hit him

Residents called police because a man was walking down Ravenna Road in front of Ravenna Woods Apartments swinging a piece of wood at cars as they drove by this morning at 6:42 a.m. Terrence Scovil, 42, of Cleveland, told police he was poking the piece of wood at cars so he woudn’t get hit. Police ran a check on Scovil and found a warrant with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for failure to comply on criminal trespassing charges.  He was arrested and transferred to the sheriff’s office.

Dumpster diving

Guiseppe Tuzzolino, 46, of Twinsburg, was arrested at 2:11 a.m. Monday when police found him rifling through a scrap metal dumpster of an East Aurora Road business.  Tuzzolino’s truck was half-full of scrap metal from the bin.  He was arrested and charged with theft and trespassing, and later admitted to stealing scrap metal on three other occasions.  

Wrong kind of beer run

Police were called to the Sheetz on East Aurora Road on Jan. 5 after two men and a woman ran out of the gas station with two cases of Rolling Rock beer.  Police tracked down the car they were riding in but couldn’t find the three.  Four days later, police arrested Jason Horvath, 24, of Twinsburg, after he was identified in a surveillance video stealing the beer.

Theft

A Warren woman called police Jan. 5 when she discovered two rings worth $650 and a prescription of Vicodin had been stolen from the Post Road residence where she was staying.  

More copper problems

The owner of a metal business called police Jan. 7 when he discovered copper coils and other copper items worth $2,200 were stolen earlier in the week.

Possession

Jordan Rogers, 18, of Twinsburg, was arrested around midnight on Jan. 11 when police found a bag of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.  Police noticed the bag, which Rogers said was trash, and searched the car.  Rogers was charged with possession of marijuana.

Stolen information

A Twinsburg woman called police Jan. 11 when she found her personal information had been used to purchase $130 in gift cards the day before.

Theft from the elderly

An 83-year-old woman reported two pieces of jewelry missing from her residence at Grande Village Villas on Jan. 14.
