Twinsburg Library Celebrates its Top Reader
The Twinsburg Public Library announces its winner of the 50 Book Challenge

The is proud to announce the successful completion of its third year of the 50 Book Challenge, a program in which participants commit to reading 50 books in one year, or about one book per week. By our counts, nearly 100 people have reached that goal.
One challenger, Twinsburg resident Melissa Allen, read 330 books in 2011, nearly one book per day. Allen, who is employed by Brentwood Health Care Center, has always been an avid reader, but said the 50 Book Challenge program has led her to read more deeply and more widely. She discovered new favorite authors such as Janet Evanovich and Iris Johansen, whose novels she had not read previously, and read all of their books.
Allen said she has considered buying an e-reader, but decided that she prefers the experience of visiting the library, getting suggestions for her next read from the librarians and filling her book bag with twenty or so new books. She is also a regular customer at the Friends of the Library Gift Shop where she purchases used books. After reading them, she donates them back to the Friends group to resell.

Allen said that she reads to relax and always finds time at the end of the day. She recommends that others who wish to increase their reading set a specific time each day when they can unwind with a good book.
If you want to set a reading goal for yourself this year, join Allen in registering for the 2012 Twinsburg Public Library 50 Book Challenge by visiting the reference desk, or online at www.twinsburglibrary.org/fiftybook.
