Twinsburg Will Apply for Grant to Install Energy-Efficient Lights
City Council voted unanimously to apply for the grant that could save $10,000 a year

Twinsburg City Council unanimously voted in favor of applying for a grant that would allow the city to install lighting retrofits in city buildings on Tuesday.
Council's vote allowed the mayor to apply for a grant up to $90,000 from the Summit County Department of Development using the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant.
The money will be used to install energy-efficient lighting retrofits in City Hall, and the police and fire departments.

Larry Finch, director of community planning and development, told council it would replace 803 fixtures in the building, reducing energy consumption by 103 kilowatt hours and $10,000 annually.
Half of the money for the project will be paid for by the city over a five-year period, while the other half will be paid by the county through the grant.

- They heard a second reading over amending the city charter to include outdoor wood-burning furnaces under prohibited use.
- Council voted 7-0 to create Chapter 1349 that would provide the city administration with a set of regulations regarding building demolitions.
- They unanimously voted in favor of the final contract negotiations with the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association regarding city dispatchers and clerks.
- Council made a motion allowing the city engineer to ask the Ohio Department of Transportation to adjust their agreement to extend a project for SR 91 to include reconstruction of the Glenwood Drive intersection.
- A motion was made to sumbit a notice of intent for a quiet zone to required agencies near two Twinsburg railroad tracks.
