VIDEO: ManorCare Plans Are Flying High
Planning commission approved the nursing care company's preliminary site plans Monday after a detailed view of the proposed building
One section of the weeklong gauntlet is finished for HCR ManorCare, before they have full clearance to build a new nursing home at the corner of Darrow and Highland Roads.
The Twinsburg Planning Commission gave approval to the preliminary site plan Monday night, after the representatives for ManorCare showed a detailed fly-by video of the building (you can see it for yourself in the video player to the right).
Dale Markowitz of Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan in Chardon spoke before a public hearing, which no residents attended, to give an overview of the building plans. They will be back on Wednesday night to get a variance from the board of zoning appeals for parking in a public facility district and then go before the architectural review board on Thursday.
Planning commission was impressed with the visual representation they were provided and found it helpful to see what the final product could look like.
“The fly-by is a great visual and it really helps to see the building massing and how it relates to the rest of the site,” said Marc Cohen, planning commission chairperson.
Planning commission members seemed satisfied with the presentation and are happy with the plans.
“I have no issues with what you’re proposing,” Cohen said. “I think you’ve answered some of our questions.”
Markowitz will be back before planning commission again in the coming months to finalize the site plans. Larry Finch, director of community planning and development, said he thinks work could begin as early as October.
