VIDEO: Twinsburg Public Library Boasts New Online Catalogue
The new system, Bibliocommons, will make navigating the library's system a breeze
The has a new online catalog in conjunction with the Clevnet consortium. The consortium chose Bibliocommons as the new system, which provides easier navigation and use, rating systems, personal lists, and more.
Searching is easier than ever, with keyword searches returning results by relevancy (similar to Amazon.com). Narrowing your search is a cinch with easy drop-down menus to refine your search by availability, format, and audience.
When you first log in, just enter your library card number and your PIN. You will be prompted to create a username. By creating a username, you save the hassle of having to dig out your library card and enter the long barcode number every time you want to reserve an item or check your account. Your pin will stay the same.
Another new feature of the catalog is the ability to track your borrowing. You can check your holds, checked-out items, and fines like normal. However, you can now check your recently returned items. Previously, this information was deleted as soon as the item was returned.
The recently returned feature does not keep a record of your returns indefinitely and is private, but if you would like to keep track of the materials you've checked out, simply add them to your shelf. A shelf is a list that you create by adding titles to a Completed, In Progress, or Save for Later list. These lists are public, however. You can also create unique lists, similar to Amazon.com, such as My Top Ten Books.
These are just a few of the exciting new features. For more details, please watch these Bibliocommons Tutorials on YouTube or ask your librarian.
