Ohio Controlling Board Approves $1.3M for West Warren Industrial Park Project (businessjournaldaily.com) — State officials just approved a $1.3 million grant to rebuild and widen key streets serving the West Warren Industrial Park, improving truck access and traffic flow on Nevada, Victoria, and West Market. City leaders say the upgrades should help attract manufacturing and warehousing jobs, while other Controlling Board actions also benefit Warren-based contractors and nearby Youngstown State University.
2. Sept. 30 community news (vindy.com) — Warren's Someplace Safe domestic violence shelter is seeking community help right now, with the Ms Molly Foundation collecting diapers, wipes, toiletries, school supplies, and monetary donations for women and children forced to leave home quickly. You can drop off items at Molly Maid of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties in Youngstown, supporting both Warren and Youngstown shelters as they provide safety and essentials to local families in crisis.
3. Charge in court fracas bound over to grand jury (tribtoday.com) — A Warren woman's felonious assault charge has been sent to a Trumbull County grand jury after an alleged altercation inside Warren Municipal Court, where another woman was injured by a thrown phone. The defendant must first serve 30 days in jail for contempt before being eligible for bond, and could face up to about eight years in prison if convicted.
4. Lil' John brings book and laughter to Warren winery (tribtoday.com) — Warren readers can meet TV personality Lil' John Rinaldi Friday evening at CharBenay's Wine on the River, where he'll sign his new memoir and chat with fans. The free event runs from 6 to 9 p.m., includes live music by Take II, and offers a relaxed chance to swap stories about his years on the beloved "Big Chuck & Lil' John" show.
5. Traveling War on Terror memorial comes to area (tribtoday.com) — A powerful traveling Global War on Terror memorial is set up on the Kinsman House lawn in Warren through Sunday, honoring more than 5,500 fallen service members. Local veterans groups, sponsors, and city leaders helped bring the 35 tribute towers here, and residents are encouraged to visit, especially with a Nurses Honor Guard program planned on-site this evening.
