2 Cars Stolen In 3 Days In Westlake, Police Say

Several unlocked cars were also rummaged through, according to police.

WESTLAKE, OH — Suspected thieves stole two vehicles and rummaged through several unlocked cars in Westlake over a three-day span this month.

Between April 19 and April 22, cars on East and West Melrose, Belmont, Northglen, Chadwick and Bassett were rummaged through. Vehicles on East Melrose and Northglen were stolen, Westlake police said.

The thieves managed to steal spare change and sunglasses from the unlocked cars. One of the stolen vehicle was recovered by Cleveland police on April 20, police said. The vehicle was found on W. 100th Street.

Cleveland police arrested several juveniles who were found sleeping in the car. The juveniles have been charged with receiving stolen property.

The second stolen vehicle was also found in Cleveland on April 24. That vehicle is being processed for latent evidence, police said.

"The Westlake Police Dept. urges residents and visitors to hide valuables and lock vehicles when unattended – no matter if parked in a driveway or parking lot. It is also important to report suspicious activity, persons or vehicles at the time you notice them," the Westlake police department said.
