2 Overdose Deaths In 6 Days In Westlake

Both deaths appear to have involved the use of opioids, police said.

WESTLAKE, OH — There were two overdose deaths in just six days in Westlake this month.

On Jan. 9, an employee of the Super 8 Motel, on Sperry Drive, found a man unresponsive in a room at 1:30 p.m. Police said they found evidence of opioid and cocaine use in the room. They man, a 46-year-old, was dead before he was discovered by the staffer, police noted.

On Jan. 15, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police rushed to a home on Westchester Parkway. Callers said there was a woman there that had stopped breathing.

Officers and paramedics attempted to save the woman's life, using various tactics, including administering the anti-overdose drug Naloxone.

The woman was then rushed to St. John Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased. She was 27.

Police believe opioid use is to blame for the woman's overdose death.
