2 Scams Targeting Westlake Residents, Police Warn
Law enforcement said there have been reports of both a "handyman" fraud and a "CEO" fraud in recent weeks.
WESTLAKE, OH — Westlake police issued a warning about frauds on Tuesday morning. Residents have been targeted by various scams recently and law enforcement are hoping to prevent future losses.
One of the scams that has targeted residents recently is a job fraud. Police said a resident was looking for a job and saw a listing for a personal assistant to a CEO on Indeed.
The so-called CEO asked the resident to deposit and then transfer money into and then out of their personal bank accounts. Police noted this is both a fraud and illegal. The resident reported the incident to police recently.

The second scam that has hooked Westlake residents is a "handyman" fraud.
As part of this scam, someone posing as a handyman shows up at a home with "extra" supplies. They claim they can help with a resident's housework for a nominal fee. Sounds too good to be true, right?
