5 Things to Know This Week: Football Rivalries, Postseason Baseball and Fall Weather
Westlake vs. Rocky River, the Browns vs. Cincinnati, Avon's Lake Erie Crushers go the distance while the Tribe loses ground against Detroit.

1. The summer months have all but passed, and the temperatures are already beginning to slip. Today’s 70 degree high will be accompanied by wind, overcast skies and a 10 percent chance of precipitation. The first day of autumn is Saturday, Sept. 24, and as the weather cools, football and postseason baseball will just be heating up.
2. The Demon football team will square off against the Rocky River Pirates this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Westlake. After a lopsided loss to North Ridgeville in August, the Demons came back with a last week. The rival Pirates (2-0) have looked solid so far this year, and will likely be a formidable opponent.
3. defied the odds and have made their way into the Frontier League’s Eastern division playoffs. Lake Erie (51-44) finished second to Joliet (56-39), and will play the Slammers in the best-of-five Eastern Conference Finals. The series starts Wednesday and Thursday in Joliet. Game three will be played at the Crushers' on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

4. Quarterback Colt McCoy, running back Peyton Hillis and wide receiver Joshua Cribbs are ready to clash against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium. A sell-out crowd is expected, and kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
5. The Indians lost 4-2 last night to the Detroit Tigers, which puts the Tribe seven and a half games back in the American League Central pennant race. And with only a few weeks to go in the regular season, the Indians will have to rally to close the gap between them and the first place Tigers. Cleveland will face off against Detroit tonight at home in an attempt to narrow the margin. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
