Akron Man Stopped with Loaded Gun: Westlake Police Blotter

The man was speeding along I-90 when police pulled him over and founded a loaded 9mm in the car.

WESTLAKE, OH -

Thefts, Nov. 7 - Power tools were taken from a Woodpath Tr. man’s unlocked car and trucks on the morning of Nov. 7. Loss is estimated at $1500. Nearby at an Iris Ct. home, a GPS and DVD worth $70 total were taken from two unlocked vehicles.

Theft, Nov. 7 - A Bassett Road woman could not find her $500 gift card on Nov. 7. It was likely taken from her unlocked truck. She then received an email that the card had been used at a Maple Hts. business that day.

Weapons Under Disability, Nov. 8 - A 25-year-old Akron man was stopped on I-90 on Nov. 8 for speeding. He had a 9mm semiautomatic handgun in the car and was arrested for CCW and for Weapons Under Disability, as he is on parole for felony convictions. The Adult Parole Authority placed a parole violation holder on him.

Theft, Nov. 8 - A Bay Landings woman had her prescription medicine stolen from her unlocked 2005 Nissan Altima on Nov. 8.

DCI, Nov. 8 - An intoxicated 29-year-old homeless woman was wearing no shoes, no socks, and no pants and her nearly nude appearance resulted in a DCI arrest on Nov. 8. She had been walking along Detroit Rd.

Theft, Nov. 8 - An electric bike ($370 value) and $20 in coins were taken from the open garage of a Hidden Acres Dr. home on Nov. 8. The victim suspects a neighbor, who allowed a search of his garage. Nothing was found.

Theft, Nov. 8 - Five trailers parked at a Bradley Road business were forced open on the night of Nov. 8. Lawn care equipment valued at $7000 was stolen. A discarded crowbar was recovered at the scene.

Attempted Fraud, Nov. 10 - A Westwood Road woman was recruited for a payroll job via the Internet. She received a $4,789 check to deposit into her personal account, then was instructed to wire $280 to that company for a printer. She smelled a rat, did not send the money, found out that the “employer” does not recruit via the Internet, and reported the attempted fraud on Nov. 10.

Theft, Nov. 9 - The rear doors were forced on a Rechner Dr. man’s 1999 Ford van during the night of Nov. 9. Hand tools worth $250 were taken.
