Anti-Overdose Drug Needed Twice In 1 Day In Westlake

Police said a man crashed his car and then needed Narcan, the anti-overdose drug, to stabilize.

WESTLAKE, OH — Police had to give a man Narcan, the anti-opioid overdose drug, after a car crash near Cahoon Road recently. The man has been charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to control his car and operating a vehicle under the influence.

At 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 4, several callers said a green van was swerving on I-90 and had nearly hit several cars on the highway. Police caught up to the van after it had crashed near Cahoon Road.

The van didn't hit another vehicle, and the driver suffered only minor injuries in the accident. Police said the driver was a 36-year-old from Wadsworth.

The Wadsworth man had to be given Narcan by paramedics and then taken to the hospital, police said. It was the second time the anti-overdose drug was administered in Westlake that day.

At 3 a.m. on Jan. 4, police were called to the Courtyard by Marriott on Sperry. There were reports of an overdose in the hotel parking lot.

When officers arrived, a 23-year-old man was in a car, having a suspected overdose. Police gave the man Narcan and he stabilized. Paramedics continued to treat the man and took him to a hospital for further examination.

Officers said they found pills in the parking lot.
