Apparent Opioid Overdose Kills Westlake Resident

Police said the man was holding a syringe in his hands when officers found his body.

WESTLAKE, OH — A 30-year-old Westlake man was found dead in his apartment on Saturday, Westlake Police told Patch. Initial evidence suggests the man was killed by an opioid overdose.

The man's roommate requested police check on the 30-year-old at about 7 p.m. on Saturday. They went to his apartment at Canterbury Place and found the man dead in his bedroom. The man was holding a syringe in his hand when officers found his body, a police spokesperson told Patch.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the man's room, police said. Both the possible narcotics and drug instruments will be analyzed by the crime lab, which will provide a more definitive cause of death.
