Armed Men Carjack Westlake Man, Steal Purse At Crocker Park

Police said a group of juveniles stole a man's SUV and then drove to Crocker Park and stole a woman's purse.

WESTLAKE, OH — Police are investigating an armed robbery in Westlake. Police said a group of suspects may have carjacked a man on Dover Road, accosted a woman at Crocker Park and committed crimes throughout Northeast Ohio.

On March 8, at 11:30 a.m., a man called 911 and said a group of armed men stole his car. The man was at the Bee Clean Car Wash at Dover and Detroit roads.

The man was at the car wash when a car pulled up with a group of men inside. One suspect got out of the car, pointed a gun at the man and demanded the keys to his SUV. The man handed over the keys and he was not hurt.

About 30 minutes after the carjacking, a group of men accosted a woman in the Mulberry Garage at Crocker Park. One of the men pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the woman, and stole her purse. The woman was not hurt, Westlake police said.

Detective have learned the group also took a car from a Beachwood resident and then committed felonies in Lakewood and Cleveland.

Several juveniles have since been identified and taken into custody, Westlake police said.
