Fleming has been a mainstay of Westlake's lower grade levels, as both teacher and administrator. He has served as principal of both Bassett Elementary and Dover Intermediate School. He will now be responsible for working with elementary school principals and staff to build a transition plan that aligns the four elementary building as they become one building in 2019-2020. He will also provide support for Dover and work closely with Miller.
“We have some very talented leaders in our district,” Scott Goggin, Westlake superintendent said in a statement. “These changes will place people in the best position to thrive and allow us to utilize the strengths of our leaders in a way that best serves our students, parents and staff.”

The district has previously announced that Paul Wilson will become principal at Westlake High School, Amanda Musselman will become principal at Lee Burneson Middle School, and Beth Dagostino will become principal at Holly Lane Elementary.
The search for assistant principals at LBMS and DIS will begin immediately and will include input from a team of administrators, staff and parents, the district said.
“These changes will help the district establish clear, focused roles for our team and direct lines of communication,” Goggin said. “People are being placed in areas where they can really excel. This sets us up structurally to be able to build upon an already strong school district.”
