Car Hits Fire Hydrant, Christmas Decorations In Westlake

Police said the car went off road and hit a fire hydrant before flipping onto a lawn and hitting Christmas decorations.

WESTLAKE, OH — On Saturday morning, police were called to a car accident on Columbia Road. When officers arrived, they found a badly damaged red sedan sitting amid Christmas decorations on a front lawn.

Callers first reported the accident at 6 a.m. on Dec. 14, according to police. Investigators determined the car had gone off the road, hit a mailbox and a fire hydrant, rolled over, hit Christmas decorations and then finally came to a stop.

The driver was a 33-year-old from North Olmsted. Police said she was taken to the hospital with injuries that were deemed to be not life threatening.

Police said the driver would be cited for failure to control her car and driving with an expired license.

A Westlake police spokesperson said the driver appeared fatigued and the road conditions were wet and slippery. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the crash, police told Patch.
