Cash Stolen From Unlocked Cars In Westlake
Police said three unlocked cars were rifled through in Westlake.
WESTLAKE, OH — Three unlocked cars were rifled through by thieves, Westlake police announced.
On Aug. 6, cars on Newbury Drive, Salem Parkway and Sleepy Hollow were targeted by opportunists. All thefts took place overnight.
Police said purses, wallets and cash were taken from the vehicles.

Westlake police have previously asked residents to lock their cars overnight. Any items of value should also be removed from vehicles, even if the car is locked. If an item must remain in the car, put it in the trunk or hide it out of sight.
Crimes of opportunity, like thefts from unlocked cars or garages, tend to spike in the summer.
