Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Celebrate Westlake

5 mile run, 5k walk, and 1 mile children's fun run going strong

WESTLAKE, Ohio—St. John Medical Center stepped up as the founding sponsor of a five-mile charity run, Celebrate Westlake, in 1990. Twenty-five years later, the race has evolved into a community heath & wellness premier event for people of all ages.


“We are pleased to host this event on our grounds,” says SJMC president and CEO William A. Young, Jr. “As a health care facility one of our major goals is to promote health and wellness. This event also showcases our beautiful campus which boasts a park-like setting and 68-acres.”


Celebrate Westlake 2015 will take place on Saturday, September 5.Prize money will be presented to winners of the 5 mile run, 5K run and 5K walk. All children participating in the half-mile and 1-mile Kids’ Fun Dash will receive a special trophy. Others are encouraged to cheer on the runners and explore the health and fitness expo, which features giveaways, free blood pressure readings, and local vendors. Kids may enjoy bounce houses, balloon artistry, crafts, and face painting.

To register, visit www.celebratewestlake.org. All participants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt, hat, and goody bag. Registration prices vary by age group and increase as the race date nears. In the spirit of continuing the 25 year tradition of giving back to the community, all proceeds will benefit local charitable organizations.
