Check Your Car Doors: More Thefts From Vehicles In Westlake

Police said residents should take an extra moment each night to make sure their valuables are inside their house and their car is locked.

WESTLAKE, OH — During the month of September, police investigated eight thefts from vehicles. Seven of the targeted vehicles had been left unlocked, and the eighth incident is still under investigation, police said.

"This is a good reminder to bring in your valuables and lock up your vehicles when left unattended," a police spokesperson said in a release.

Nearly all of the thefts happened overnight. The vehicles were parked in residential driveways on Westwood, Hedgewood, Columbia Road, Wildwood and Detroit Road, on the east side of Westlake.

The thieves managed to steal purses, credit cards and miscellaneous changes.

Westlake Police have previously said that residents should take an extra moment or two, at the end of their evening, to make sure their homes and vehicles are locked. Even if you hear a beep when you lock your vehicle, you should still check one of the door handles to make sure it's actually locked.
