Cleveland Resident Has Vision for Toastmasters Leadership Project

Sights on Collecting Eyeglasses for People in Need

Distinguished Toastmaster, Rosita Turner, is collecting lightly used eye glasses from November 8, 2017 through October 7, 2018 to give the gift of sight to people in undeveloped countries. Turner’s project is “Give Eyes for Christmas Day.”

Turner joined Toastmasters on December 1, 2010 and is currently a member of four clubs. “Toastmasters leadership education provides me with step-by-step procedures to effectively lead and implement the project,” says Turner.

Turner became involved with this cause to continue the efforts of Distinguished Toastmaster, Mary Anne Burrows, who has collected over 2,000 pairs of eyeglasses to benefit many people in need and to keep glasses out of landfills.

“Rosita is a hard-working, determined individual who will achieve her goal,” says Burrows.

Once the glasses are collected, they will be sent to MOST Ministries, a Michigan-based Lutheran outreach ministry, to be cleaned and sorted by prescription, then distributed to people in need across the globe.

Turner’s vision is “to help people of undeveloped countries so they can use their eyes and enjoy their lives.”
