Drug User Passes Out On The Way To Job Interview In Avon

WESTLAKE, OH — Callers reported a man passed out behind the wheel of a car at Sherbrook and Adelaide Street in Westlake last Monday. When officers arrived, they found a 39-year-old man, passed out, with the vehicle still in gear.

Police roused the man and spoke to him. He was from Willoughby and claimed he was going to a job interview in Avon. While talking, officers saw hypodermic needles inside the vehicle.

The Willoughby man was questioned about possible drug use. He admitted that he shot up heroin before heading to his job interview, police said. He told police he must have gotten some "bad stuff."

The man was taken to a local hospital while police searched his car. Officers collected suspected narcotics, drug paraphernalia and other evidence of drug use.

The narcotics are being sent to a lab for testing, police said. The 39-year-old will be charged with criminal and traffic offenses, including operating a vehicle impaired, pending results of the lab tests.
