Drunk Driver Hits Car, Runs From Scene: Westlake Police

The driver, a Strongsville woman, told police she hit the other car because it was driving "too slowly."

WESTLAKE, OH — A drunk woman hit a car on Rose Road before running away from the crash, police said. When officers tracked the suspect down, she smelled of alcohol and had weed in her possession.

The crash happened at approximately 10 p.m. on Rose, near Canterbury Road. When police go the scene, the woman had run from the crash after saying she had a warrant for her arrest.

Officers found the woman, a 42-year-old from Strongsville, a short distance from the crash. She reeked of alcohol, police said, and had marijuana in her possession.

The woman defended hitting the other car, saying the other driver was going too slowly...so she ran into rear bumper. She then refused to take any field sobriety tests. She also refused to take a breath test. Police arrested the woman and took her back to Westlake Jail.

The woman is being charged with operating a vehicle impaired, hit-skip, refusing a chemical test with a previous OVI conviction, failure to maintain assured clear distance, and possession of marijuana.
