Drunken Driver Had 2 Kids In Car: Westlake Police
Police said they stopped a car as it left the Super 8 motel parking lot. The driver appeared intoxicated, police said
WESTLAKE, OH — A woman is accused of driving drunk through Westlake with her children in her car, police announced.
Officers were called to the Super 8 Motel at 5 a.m for reports of a fight in the parking lot. Callers said four to five people appeared to be brawling.
When police arrived they found several people in the parking lot, but no signs of a fight. However, they saw a vehicle pulling out of the lot and stopped it before it got onto the road.

There were two children in the car's backseat, police said. The children did not have car seats and the driver, a 26-year-old Cleveland woman, showed signs of intoxication, according to a Westlake police spokesperson.
The woman was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

At the Super 8 motel, police found relatives of the arrested woman and interviewed them. They said the woman had been trying to drive away with her kids in the car and a fight had ensued.
The children were turned over to a relative and the driver was taken to Westlake Jail, where she tested over the legal limit for alcohol, police said.
The 26-year-old has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired and failure to restrain her children properly. Children's Services was contacted about the case.
