Drunken Driver Passes Out In Car In Westlake: Police

WESTLAKE, OH - A drunken driver passed out in her car after cruising over someone's lawn in Westlake, police said.

Late on Sunday night, a concerned driver called police after they saw a car jump the curb and drive over a lawn while turning. The car appeared to be going 20 mph, according to the caller.

Police found the car moving slowly through the parking lot of the Lennox Ridge Condos. After the car came to a stop, officers approached and saw a woman slumped over the wheel, apparently passed out.

Police said they had to open the car door and shift the car into park (the car was still in drive) and then yell at the driver to wake up. The woman told officers she was trying to get to her house on the west side of Cleveland.

When asked how many alcoholic beverages she drank, the woman said, "a lot," according to police.

The woman was taken into custody and is being charged for operating a vehicle impaired. She was taken to Westlake Police Department where she tested three times over the legal limit for blood-alcohol.
