Drunken Driver Stalled Car On Crocker Road: Westlake Police

The driver, a 53-year-old Avon Lake woman, told police she didn't know how to drive stick shift.

WESTLAKE, OH — A suspected drunken driver was taken into custody after her car broke down on Crocker Road on Friday afternoon, police announced.

Callers reported a disabled car on Crocker at 3:20 p.m. on Friday. Officers found the vehicle near the ramp for I-90.

The driver, a 53-year-old woman from Avon Lake, told police she did not know how to drive stick shift, which caused her to stall her car. Police agreed to help the woman out.

Officers got behind the car and began push the "disabled" car out of the way of traffic. According to police though, while officers pushed the car, the woman struggled to control the vehicle, making officers suspicious.

The woman showed signs of intoxication and police decided to field test her. She was then arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle impaired. The woman's car was towed off Crocker Road, police said.

At Westlake Police Station, the woman was given a breath test. Police said she blew four times the legal limit for BAC.
