Easter Food Baskets Given Away In Westlake

Several city departments worked together to safely hand-out food baskets to Westlake residents.

WESTLAKE, OH — Last week, the Westlake Senior and Community Services department handed out Easter food baskets to families. Residents received packages of dry goods, fresh fruits groceries and other produce. Each recipient also got a fresh bouquet of flowers.

The baskets were distributed by members of the community services department, police officers and members of the recreation and service department.

"Our officers want to give back in this time of stress and need in the community and the administration of the police department is dedicated to continuing our service to the community which may look a bit different during this time of quarantine and stay at home orders," a Westlake police spokesperson told Patch.

Many nonprofit organizations have been struggling due to the loss of volunteers, who are self-isolation at home. To fill the gap, members of the police department, and other city departments, have stepped up to help.

The items in the baskets were collected by the staff of the Westlake Food Pantry. Donations are made to the pantry throughout the year, but there is now an increased need for contributions. Donations are continuing to be received and can be dropped off at the Community Service Center at 29694 Center Ridge Road or by calling (440)899-3544.
