Fallen Senior Citizen Rescued By Westlake Police
An 84-year-old woman spent nearly 17 hours straight on the floor of her house, unable to get up.

WESTLAKE, OH — An alert system helped police rescue an 84-year-old woman that had fallen inside her Westlake home.
At about 10:15 a.m. last Thursday, police got a notification from the department's "Are You OK?" system. The system allows senior citizens to sign-up for daily check-in phone calls. If the resident doesn't pick-up, the system alerts police that there may be a problem.
In this case, the system noted that an 84-year-old woman had not checked-in. Officers went to the woman's house and found her on the floor, unable to get up. Luckily, the woman was awake and alert and relatively unharmed, but she had been on the floor for nearly 17 hours straight.
