Bites Nearby: Family-owned Stonehouse Grill Makes a Good Night Out Easy

This Westlake restaurant offers fresh food, fast service and a relaxed environment.

When I arrived at at 24850 Center Ridge Rd. in Westlake, my friends and I took our seats at a booth near the front of the restaurant after a short wait. Our server arrived promptly to take our drink orders while my two friends and I perused the menu. The robust offerings included a variety of choices from pizza to burgers to pasta.

We started withthe  Bacon Cheese Fries made with seasoned waffle fries, which served as an ideal vehicle for the Monterey Jack cheese and finely ground bacon. One friend had a fresh, crispy salad with peppers and I had a tomato soup which was flavorful, but too peppery for my taste.

Our server stopped by a couple of times to refill our drinks despite the fact that it was busy with families and groups enjoying the Masters golf tournament on one of the several flat screens throughout my dining room.

For our meal, we appreciated the substantial portions. One friend had a supreme pizza with sausage, pepperoni, ham, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. The crust was thinner, but still doughy. My other friend enjoyed a steak sandwich with caramelized onions, melted provolone and mayonnaise.

I ordered the Calzone Special featuring spinach and cheese – the crust was topped with Parmesan cheese, which was an appetizing addition but made it a little messy to eat. It was a fine calzone, although not spectacular.

For dessert we sampled the lemon berry cake, which didn’t have an overwhelming lemon flavor. A custard-like filling helped to moisten the too-dense cake.

Overall, Stonehouse Grill offers good, solid food with reasonable prices – and I’m looking forward to heading back when the patio is open. Stonehouse offers carry out by calling 440-871-4745. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant opens at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and noon on Sundays.
