The Westlake Historical Society, which will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary on Saturday, is inviting members of the Westlake community past and present to ring an antique fire truck bell 200 times— once for each year in Westlake’s history. Society President Lysa Stanton said she'll be ringing the bell for 2003, the year she moved to Westlake, and Westlake Kiwanis President Rick Grane said he'll ring the bell for the year he was born— 1954.
Westlake Patch will be there too, ringing the bell for our founding year of 2010.

More than 300 engraved bricks, along with stones engraved with the name of each founder and the date they arrived in Westlake, make up the pathway, according to Jean Smith in the city Planning Department. Residents, businesses and others with connections to the city were invited to dedicate a brick salvaged from the old Red Brick School and become part of Westlake history.
The project was funded entirely through the sale of bricks at $60 a piece by the Westlake Kiwanis Club and the Westlake Historical Society.
