
During the Lenten season, the smell of frying fish wafts through the air every Friday as local churches, restaurants and organizations prepare for the traditional fish fries.
Whether you're observing the religious season, or just love good seafood, here are some of the local fish fries you might want to try.

St. Ladislas will be frying up fish from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays March 2 through March 30 in Cullen Hall. Adults get their choice of baked pollock, fried hoki, fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese or pierogi as an entree with fries, rolls, a beverage and a choice of coleslaw, applesauce or salad. Takeout and kids portions are availble as well. Prices range from $5 to $8.

Whistlestop is offering two Friday fish dinner specials from 4 to 10 p.m. Choose either the yellow lake perch dinner with fries and coleslaw for $12, or the yellow lake perch sandwich with fries for $8.
At 5 p.m. Feb. 24, March 9 and March 23, Magnificat will have dinners featuring Lake Erie perch, shrimp or a combination with fries, coleslaw and a roll along with a choice of drink. Kids meals with pizza will also be available. Dinners are $12 for adults and $5 for kids.
Ironwood Cafe has two Friday fish specials— beer-battered Cod or Cajun-seared Tilapia. A sandwich is $9.50, and a dinner plate is $11.50.
Hyde Park will be offering Friday fish and other seafood specials from Maine lobster tails to wild Alaskan salmon. Specials continue through March 21.
The Lakewood church is offering four different dinners through April 6. All dinners are $8.50, with the option to add a piece of fish for $2. All meals include a side, a vegetable and a drink.
Moosehead Saloon has a variety of Lenten dishes including the Cod Fish Bowl with fries and cole slaw, the Grouper Finger Basket and the Perch Dinner, which comes with fries and a pierogi.
