Get Out: Run to Cure Cancer, A Moment in the Spotlight and All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes

Why Go: Lace up for this USA track & field certified 4-mile race and 2-mile fun run/walk hosted by Emily's Rainbow Fund to benefit pediatric cancer research at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.  Held in memory of Westlake’s 12-year-old Emily Lewis, who passed away in August 2009 after a courageous three year battle with pediatric kidney cancer.  All funds will sponsor a graduate student to do pediatric cancer research at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital.

Pricing: Day-of registration for the 4 mile or 2 mile race is $25 for runners 19 years and older and $15 for runners 18 and younger. Registration is $5 for the kids’ quarter mile walk and run

Why Go: Support the efforts and service projects of the local Kiwanis club. The admission price buys all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

Pricing: $5, children 6 years and younger eat free.

Where/When: 174 Main St., Crocker Park, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: This is your chance to cut the line at the Chicago auditions for Simon Cowell’s new reality talent show “The X-Factor.” The individuals or groups that win each of the four categories will be featured on the "Fox 8 News In the Morning" show and get passes to cut the line at auditions in Chicago April 27.

Where/When: , 6-9 p.m. Friday

Why Go: Porter Public Library is inviting the community to a family-friendly mini-golf fundraiser. For $15, teams of up to four players can tee off for nine holes of golf. There will also be a cakewalk and Wii Golf during the evening.

Funds raised go towards -sponsored programs and services. Register your team at the library's circulation desk. Call 440-871-2600 for  more information, or stop by the circulation desk to get your tee time of either 6, 7 or 8 p.m.
