Giant Eagle Issues Recall On Shredded Lettuce

The voluntary recall includes bags of The Farmers Market lettuce and sandwich rings.

Giant Eagle has issued a voluntary recalling its Farmers Market shredded Iceburg lettuce and certain deli sandwich rings that included the lettuce.

The Food and Drug Administration told Giant Eagle it had found listeria in a random sample of its Farmers Market lettuce, according to a press release from the grocery chain. The sample from River Ranch Fresh Foods had a use-by date of Oct. 14.

Contamination is possible in the large and small Italian sandwich rings, the large and mini New York sandwich rings, and the large and mini All American sandwich rings.

Giant Eagle has removed potentially affected lettuce bags and sandwich rings from its shelves. Shoppers should return recalled products to , or simply throw them out.

As of Oct. 12, no illnesses had been reported in relation to this product, according to the release.
