Half A Kilo Of Suspected Heroin Found After Fight In Westlake

Police were investigating a brawl at a local hotel when one of the suspects left the scene. He was pulled over and police searched his car.

WESTLAKE, OH — An alleged brawl in the lobby of the Extended Stay America Hotel on early Tuesday morning ended with two arrests and charges for felony drug trafficking. Police said half a kilo of suspected heroin was found in a vehicle parked outside the hotel.

Callers began reporting a fight between a man and woman in the hotel lobby a little after midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 27. When officers arrived, the man had walked out of the hotel and left the scene. Police were able to interview the woman believed to be involved in the scrap.

She told police she had been assaulted. She had no visible injuries, but a complaint for misdemeanor assault was taken, police said.

Less than two hours later, callers told police the man involved in the fight had come back to the hotel. Before officers could get to the building, the man took off but police were able to locate the man in a vehicle traveling through Westlake.

The man had a warrant for his arrest and a suspended license. Officers searched the man's vehicle and found a little less than half a kilo of suspected heroin, along with marijuana and a scale.

The man was arrested and charged with felony trafficking of drugs.

Police said a passenger in the man's vehicle was also arrested, because of an outstanding warrant, and turned over to Lorain Police.
