Harrison's Furniture Nears End of 40 Years in Business

Going out of business sale continues through March 4.

As prepares to close its doors next month, customers are doing some last-minute shopping to take advantage of the clearance sales.

"At this point, the savings are up to 80 percent," said Chris Kulikowski with Lynch Sales Company, a promotional group based in Michigan. "The sale has been bringing in a lot of people, but we still have a little bit of everything left: dining room, bedroom, living room, recliners, lamps, accessories."

Rachel Majewski and her husband Chip headed down to check out the sale prices on Thursday. The couple has their first baby on the way soon and were looking for a crib.

"We bought our dining room set here after we got married," Rachel said. "We had always planned to come back and do the baby room when we were ready."

Owner Ralph Harrison said in January that he would soon be retiring and closing the store.

"He's getting older, and there was no one to take over," Kulikowski said. "But the sale is going well. We really appreciate the response we've already gotten going into the final days."

The sale includes 20 percent off of everything in the store, plus and extra 30 percent off of small items like pictures and lamps.

The Westlake location of Harrison's opened in 2006 when the company moved its showroom from Lakewood to its location on Detroit Road.
