Impaired Driver Hits Curbs In Westlake, Caller Tells Police

A citizen told police they saw a car drift over the center line and hit curbs. The driver was later charged with driving under the influence

WESTLAKE, OH — On Thursday morning, callers reported a reckless driver cruising through Westlake.

Police said a concerned citizen contacted officers at about 9:40 a.m. on July 11. The caller said a car was hitting curbs and drifting over the center line. The car was driving near Clague Road and Stonehedge Drive, the caller told police.

Cruisers were dispatched to check it out and caught up to the car at Clague and Detroit Roead. The driver, a 57-year-old North Olmsted resident, was moving slowly. When officers spoke to him, he appeared lethargic, police said.

Field sobriety tests were given and the man was then taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

A urine sample was taken from the map and will be tested by the Cuyahoga County Coroner Lab. Police are awaiting the results from the test.
