Intoxicated Man Leaves Voicemails Threatening Westlake Cops

The man called Westlake City Hall and left several voicemails threatening police officers, a police spokesperson said.

WESTLAKE, OH — An intoxicated man threatened Westlake police officers in voice mails left with the city's law department. The man has been charged with aggravated menacing, according to police.

The voicemails were prompted by an incident on August 27. An employee at a restaurant on Clemens Road called police and said an intoxicated man had just left his business in a car. The described man, and his car, were found in the parking lot of the nearby Super 8 hotel. He told officers he lived at the hotel, a police spokesperson said.

The man appeared intoxicated, police said, and was taken into custody for disorderly conduct. At Westlake Jail he became belligerent and had to be taken to the hospital for medical issues, police said.

From the hospital, the man made several phone calls to the Westlake Law Department at city hall. The man left voicemails, which police described as "ranting," and threatened both the city's police department and its officers.

Police have charged the man with aggravated menacing.
