Laughing Gas, Oxycodone Found During Westlake Traffic Stop
Police said nearly 80 suspected oxycodone pills and canisters of nitrous oxide were found in a man's car.
WESTLAKE, OH — Nitrous oxide, aka laughing gas, and 80 suspected oxycodone pills were found during a traffic stop in Westlake. Police said they stopped the car after a concerned resident called and said they saw a car "hit the curb a few times."
On Wednesday night, at 8:30 p.m., a caller said a car was "all over the road" and urged police to investigate. Officers found the car and stopped it near the Westwood-Center Ridge road intersection.
The driver, a 26-year-old from North Ridgeville, was barely able to keep his eyes open while talking with police, according to officers. He also had nitrous oxide canisters on his lap, police said.

The man was given field sobriety tests and then taken into custody for operating a vehicle impaired, police said.
After taking the driver into custody, police found 80 suspected oxycodone pills in the man's possession. He did not have a prescription, police said.

At Westlake Jail, the man refused to take a breath test. He has been charged with felony possession of drugs, operating a vehicle impaired, and police are recommending charges of abusing harmful intoxicants to a grand jury.
