Man Arrested in Westlake for Huffing Cleaning Products: Police Blotter

A passerby spotted the man inhaling the products in a Detroit Road parking lot.

WESTLAKE, OH - Passerby spotted a Bay Village man huffing cleaning products in a parking lot on Detroit Road. When confronted by police, the man took a long hit. He was arrested after that.

Theft, Nov. 4 - A $500 bicycle was taken from an attached garage on Hedgewood Way. It may have been taken when the resident let her dog out on the morning of Nov. 4. Nearby on Anne Ln., shoes worth $99 and $60 cash were taken from an attached garage. A pedestrian door had been left unlocked.

Fraud, Nov. 4 - Someone tried to change the mailing address of an Annie Ln. man’s investment account to a NV location. It was not successful, as the firm notified the victim of the switch. Two checks made out to the same victim have also gone astray. One is believed lost in the mail, while the other was cashed fraudulently. He suspects an estranged relative and reported the matter on Nov. 4.

Abusing Harmful Intoxicants, Nov. 4 - A passerby spotted a 48-year-old Bay Village man huffing a cleaning product on Nov. 4. As an officer stood at the side of the man’s car in a Detroit Rd. parking lot, the suspect inhaled a big hit. He was arrested for Abusing Harmful Intoxicants.

Theft, Nov. 3 - A Hedgewood Dr. man’s work laptop was taken from his unlocked 2012 Ford Flex on the night of Nov. 3. His employer was able to wipe the computer remotely.

Theft, Nov. 4 - A Michigan man staying at a Sperry Dr. motel had his $600 bike stolen from his vehicle on the night of Nov. 4. The bike lock had been cut.

Possible Theft, Nov. 4 - A work trailer parked at a Westwood Dr. home had the door forced open on the night of Nov. 4. It is unclear if anything was taken; the owner will do an inventory when he returns.

DCI, Nov. 5 - An intoxicated 54-year-old Bay Village man was shown the door at Crocker Pk. Blvd. and Main St. businesses on Nov. 5 after creating commotions in both places. He was arrested for DCI.

Physical Control, Nov. 5 - A 35-year-old Cleveland woman created a disturbance in a Detroit Rd. restaurant on Nov. 5. She was found in the parking lot behind the wheel of her 2005 Pontiac G6 while under the influence. She was arrested for Physical Control.

Assault, Nov. 6 - A 29-year-old Parma man was accidentally jostled by a 28-year-old male from Texas at a Columbia Rd. business on Nov. 6. The older man took umbrage, accused the Texan of deliberately touching him, and punched him in the face, breaking his eyeglasses. The Parma man was arrested for Assault.
