Man Found Dead In Westlake Apartment, Police Say

Police and fire units found the man inside his Detroit Road apartment on Wednesday afternoon.

WESTLAKE, OH — A man was found dead inside a Westlake apartment on Wednesday. A police spokesperson said his death appears to be drug related, though an official cause of death has yet to be determined.

Police said the man, 42, was found in a Detroit Road apartment at about 12:15 p.m. The man had not shown up for work and his ex-girlfriend and a coworker went to check on him and found him unresponsive.

Police and fire units converged on the apartment and determined the man was dead. The Cuyahoga County Coroner was called and will determine the final cause of death.

However, a police spokesperson told Patch the death appears to be drug related.

The man's 2-year-old daughter was found in the apartment. Police suspect she was alone in the apartment with her father for a "number of hours" before being discovered. Luckily, she was unhurt and is now in her mother's care.

The Cuyahoga County Mobile Crisis unit was alerted and will provide resources to the family, police said.
