Man Soils Himself, Covers It With Robbery Lie: Westlake Police

After soiling himself, a man decided to lie and say he was robbed while at Crocker Park, police said.

WESTLAKE, OH — A man soiled himself, became embarrassed, and lied about being robbed while at Crocker Park, police said.

On Nov. 6, at 11 p.m., shoppers contacted Westlake police to say a man was walking around Crocker Park saying he had been robbed. The man was only wearing a shirt, which was wrapped around his waist, callers said.

Police were able to quickly locate the 24-year-old man with the shirt around his waist. He said he was in a nearby parking garage when someone approached him with a gun and stole his clothing and belongings, including his wallet.

Officers investigated the claim and they found the 24-year-old's clothes in the parking garage. The clothes were soiled with feces. The man's wallet and other belongings were also in the pile of soiled clothes.

The 24-year-old told police he concocted the story to disguise that he had soiled himself, police said.

Westlake police believe alcohol played a part in the man's decision to lie. Prosecutors are reviewing the case for possible false alarm charges.
