Mason Jars Filled With Suspected Weed Found In Car In Westlake

Police said the car was investigated after the driver pulled into a residential driveway and didn't get out of his car. It was 2:30 a.m.

WESTLAKE, OH — Mason jars full of suspected marijuana were found inside a man's car after it was impounded, Westlake Police said. The driver is being charged with trafficking in drugs, along with possession of criminal tools and driving with a suspended license.

Police stopped the man's car on June 14 at about 2:30 a.m. A night shift officer on patrol noticed a car pull into a residential driveway, but no one got out. Thinking that suspicious, the officer decided to speak with the driver.

A 22-year-old man from North Olmsted was in the driver's seat. He told the officer the house belonged to his "nana" but later admitted he did not know the homeowner. The officer then found the man had a suspended driver's license. The man's car would be impounded.

During the impound, officers found several mason jars of suspect marijuana, along with a scale, new baggies and other drug paraphernalia. The driver said he didn't own the car and that the car's owner must have put the contraband in the vehicle.

The owner was no on the scene and, according to the driver, was actually incarcerated for an unknown crime, police said. So the 22-year-old was arrested.
