Mysterious Package Held $9,500, Seized By Westlake Police

Police said they are investigating the person the package was intended for and the person that dropped the package off.

WESTLAKE, OH — A mysterious package seized by Westlake Police contained more than $9,500 in cash. Police are still determining who was trying to send the money and why.

A business on Center Ridge Road called police in mid-July after learning someone was trying to send a package that said it was from their office. It wasn't. The business had nothing to do with the suspicious package.

After getting a search warrant, Westlake detectives and a K9 unit intercepted the package at a local UPS store. Police said they found a large envelope, addressed to a man in Fresno, California. Officers opened the envelope and found more than $9,500 in cash.
